Rosemary was born a year ago today.
As of this morning, she can wobble twelve to twenty steps in a row. Each day brings more steps and fewer wobbles.
She calls us Mama and Dada, which of course we love. And we think her occasional "Lye-La" must mean Silas. (Silas, for his part, has turned "Rosie" into "Wuzzie," which he stretches out with a playful lilt.)
Rosemary's good cheer is a constant and she is easily the most outgoing member of our family. She learned to wave a few months ago and never stopped. She waves at us when we enter the room. She waves at strangers from her stroller. When they wave back, she grins and laughs. She waves at the radio when the music comes on. She waves when we say, "Rosemary, wave!" She may be destined to ride a float.
She remains as tenacious as ever. Whichever room she wants to crawl into, whichever piece of paper she wants to chew, whichever of Silas's toys she wants to grab, she just keeps at it -- no matter how much anyone tries to stop her. When Silas is in the mood to push Rosemary from one of his things, she doesn't complain and she doesn't get upset. She calmly and methodically keeps going for it.
It's been a great year.

Palm Springs
Another post from our California trip. We spent four days in Palm Springs doing pretty much nothing.
