Book Report

It took us a long time to get over the shock of nightly kindergarten homework.

We have grudgingly accepted it on the "can't fight city hall" theory, though we don't take it too seriously.

Over spring break, Silas was assigned a book report. He wrote about James Marshall's "Hansel and Gretel."

A note on spelling: we have been encouraged to let Silas guess how things are spelled, rather than telling him. Feel free to enlighten me on the wisdom of that policy.

Prior post on homework is here.

  1. We have followed the same spell-it-as-you-imagine-it policy. A will sometimes ask how you spell something and we will help her sound it out, but I think there is something so important in having their brains figure that stuff out on their own! I know, that's exactly the scientific research findings you were hoping for. :)
