Keeping Cool

I had the kids on July 5; Meredith had to work.  It was as hot and muggy as it gets, so my goal was to keep cool.

First stop, Museum of Natural History.  Great air conditioning.  But one can only take so many dioramas.

Second stop, my office.  As we walked down the hall Silas suddenly asked me:  "Dad -- do the people you work with know you're bald?"

Here is Rosemary checking out the view from the 18th floor.
Last stop, shady Bryant Park.

Silas could not stop talking about this fountain.  We had seen other kids in it, and adults were dipping their feet in.

I told Silas I didn't think any of that was allowed.

Silas responded, "If we went into that fountain, it would be the coolest fountain I have ever been in, in my whole life."

Who can argue with that logic?

They had a good five minutes splashing around before the NYPD asked us to leave.
